Five Minute Friday: Ahead

I look ahead; I’m eager
for the plans I have in mind.
I look around and find that
You are cheering from behind.

I look ahead; I’m fearful
and my mind is filled with dread.
I look within and hear You
saying, “Look to me instead.”

I look ahead; I’m worried
for the ones I hold so dear.
I need not look around me
to know You’re always near.

I look ahead, so joyful
for the moments yet to be!
You are always at my side
and You celebrate with me.

I look ahead, uncertain
of the paths I’ve yet to roam.
Then I feel Your hand in mine…

Yes, You will lead me home.

  1. Beautifully written and true.

I’m having a hard time looking ahead, now…nonetheless…

In the dark of night I wept
    from cancer’s all-consuming pain,
then rose (although I had not slept)
    to work upon my aeroplane
whose wings span living room and hall,
    whose motor oils the kitchen floor;
when done, we will knock out a wall
for it will not go through the door.
But that, of course, is if I live
to see the job completely through,
but to this quest I’ll gladly give
all and more that I can do
for it’s hope that leads be on
long past when I should be gone.

  2. One of your best! It is such a good word! I have often said walking with the Lord is a “ Seat of your pants ride”you don’t know the future but you know He will be with you all the way holding you, leading you, pushing you, pulling you and sometimes just carrying you❣️I want no other life❣️Bountiful Blessings❣️❤️💕🥰🙏🙏

  3. This came in perfect timing amid our country’s grapple with worldly stuff. I printed it off. It goes with me everywhere, including errands. Yesterday some impatient person felt the need to laaaay on his horn cause I was busy reading and didnt look “Ahead” to notice the light had changed to green…oops, sorry buddy! Had I had a copy of [Five Minute Friday “Breathe”] I could have offered it to him 🙂 (ok, I’ll reel myself in…my sense of humor is starting to show!) Seriously Karen, your posts, for me anyways, are always so relevant and timely. I thank God for your gift and I thank God for you!!
